What is Teeth Whitening?
Dr. Fabry offers a no obligation teeth whitening consultation to explain treatment options. Teeth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple dental treatment used to lighten or whiten the color of tooth enamel to remove years of staining in order to restore the beauty of your smile.
There are a number of ways to whiten teeth, Falls Family Dentistry has 3 options to help brighten your smile.
- Take-Home Custom Trays (Opalescence)
- In-Office 2hr Treatment (Boost)
- Whitening Strips (Opalescence Tres White of Crest White Strips)
Reasons for teeth whitening:
- Heavy wine or tea consumption.
- Normal wear of outer tooth layer.
- Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
- Yellow, brown stained teeth.
What Does Teeth Whitening Involve?
Custom Trays: trays are fitted comfortably to your mouth and teeth, the patient is given bleach solution to take home with them. The procedure takes about two weeks once a day for twenty to forty minutes to change your smile.
Boost: your teeth are whitened professionally in our office in about one to two hours. Sit back and relax while a certified dental professional changes your smile.
Whitening Strips: bleaching strips are placed on your upper and lower teeth for twenty minutes a day for two weeks.
Your initial consultation with Dr. Fabry is important since teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the newly bleached teeth.
Teeth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed every several years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine.
What Are Veneers?
Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made to fit each tooth. Veneers are cemented or bonded to each tooth using state-of-the-art dental materials create a beautiful and long-lasting smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.
Reasons for veneers:
- Restore worn or chipped teeth.
- Correct crooked or misshaped teeth.
- Repair discolored or stained teeth.
- Lengthen small-sized teeth.
What does getting porcelain veneers involve?
Getting veneers usually requires two or three visits to complete the process. The initial meeting involves color and size selection. Figuring out how many teeth to correct and the appropriate shade/color is where Dr. Fabry starts. At your second appointment, teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. A mold or impression of your teeth is taken. On the final visit, your teeth will be cleansed with special liquids to achieve a durable bonding surface. Special dental materials are then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special curing light beam is used to harden and set the material. That’s it, a stunning smile in three simple visits.
